This page sets out how entries on Medical Tourism Wiki are written, sourced, labelled and corrected. It applies to every article on the site.
What this reference is, and is not
This is a reference work. It describes procedures, destinations, facilities, organizations, regulation and terminology in international medical travel. It does not rank providers, recommend destinations, compare prices between markets, or help anyone choose where to be treated.
Nothing here is medical advice. Treatment decisions belong with a qualified clinician who knows the patient’s history.
The word open in the site’s title refers to open access: entries are free to read, without registration or a paywall. It does not mean the site accepts public edits, and it does not mean the content is released under an open licence. Entries are written and maintained by the publisher.
How facts are labelled
Every factual claim on this site sits in one of three states, and each entry says which. The distinction appears in the infobox and, where it matters, in the running text.

A figure a hospital publishes about itself is evidence that the hospital published it. It is not evidence that it is true. Holding that distinction open, visibly, on every page, is the main thing this reference is for.
Which sources are preferred
- Primary records: statutes, regulator filings, exchange disclosures, court judgments, ministry publications, accreditation registers, and data from bodies such as the WHO and the OECD.
- Peer-reviewed literature.
- Official institutional publications from ministries, accreditation bodies and medical societies.
- Reputable journalism and industry reports, used for context and labelled as such.
- Provider and facilitator material, used only to record what a provider states about itself.
Where sources disagree, entries report the disagreement, the years the figures refer to, and the reason for the difference where it can be identified. Entries do not average conflicting figures or present one as settled. Where no reliable figure exists, the entry says so rather than estimating.
Review status
Every entry carries a status bar beneath its title showing its review state, the date it was written or last reviewed, and how many sources it cites.
Unreviewed means the entry has been written and published, but no claim in it has yet been read from a primary register. Entries in this state say so plainly in the sourcing note at the foot of the article.
Reviewed means a person has opened the records the entry cites and checked each claim against them, and the date of that check is shown. Where medical content has additionally been read by a clinician, that reviewer is credited by name, with the scope of the review stated. A reviewer is never credited on an entry they have not read.
Corrections
Corrections are welcome from anyone, including the organizations described here. Write to [email protected] and, where possible, name the entry, quote the passage, and point to the record that contradicts it.
An error of fact is corrected and the entry’s date updated. Substantive corrections are noted on the entry itself. A request to remove an accurate, sourced statement is not a correction and is not actioned on that basis.
Ownership, funding and conflicts of interest
Medical Tourism Wiki is published by Altay Health Ltd., which also operates commercial medical travel directories and a trade publication. That relationship is the most important thing a reader should know about this site, which is why it is stated here rather than buried in a footer.
This reference does not sell placement, does not accept payment to include, alter or remove an entry, and does not rank providers. No entry is created, amended or withheld because of a commercial relationship elsewhere in the portfolio.
Where an organization described here also appears on a commercial site under the same ownership, that relationship is disclosed on the entry itself, not only on this page.
This site does not claim editorial independence from its owner. It is published by a company with commercial interests in the same field. What is offered instead of independence is disclosure: what has been checked and what has not, what is sourced and what the provider says about itself, and who owns what.
